Jacqulyn Evans
/ Research Associate
Jacqulyn Evans joined Incept Labs as a Research Associate in 2023. Originally trained as a chef, Jacqulyn has most recently been working in the university sector, where she has had held academic support and teaching roles at La Trobe University where she is currently completing her PhD.
Jacqulyn has strong transdisciplinary approach to research. She has a deep understanding of both quantitative and qualitative research methods. This includes scientific experimental design and execution, ethnographic methods, and descriptive and inferential statistics. She also has a passion to make academic work accessible to a wide variety of stakeholders. To this end she regular talks about, and has direct engagement with, local community organisations and citizen scientists.
Working with diverse clients at Incept Labs, Jacqualyn has flexibility to work with a range of organisations, from testing professional skill achievement indicators on a United Nations partner project, to leading a review on training approaches for health information professionals. Leveraging all this experience she has made a significant impact on the design of performance indicators for soft skills that are core to professionals. This work has played an important role in the design of the Institute of Public Accountants’ competency framework.
After working in the hospitality industry for seven years, Jacqulyn subsequently completed a Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science double degree, focusing on microbiology, genetics, and anthropology. This led on to a Masters by research, in which she developed an interdisciplinary framework for problems that cross between biological and social sciences. She is now undertaking a PhD exploring anthropology and microbiology in urban farming.
Jacqulyn is a member of the Australian Anthropological Society and sessional academic at La Trobe University.
